"I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them." Isaiah 42:16

Blind: Total loss of sight.

Sight Problems: Weakening or diminishing of sight not caused by external lesions

Characteristics of a blind people: Rebelliousness, resentment, sadness, loneliness, untrusting, unbelieving.

A blind person, just as the deaf, can perceive all that surrounds them. By the sound of your voice they will be aware of how we are and the intentions of our hearts. They have developed well their sense of hearing, and smelling and can recognize us through these.

How can we begin to work with these unreached people?

Inquire into the institutions and educational centers for the blind in our city and integrate ourselves in their community.

Study Braille. Introduce this study to the church.

Put together tracts in Braille inviting the blind to our church. Not forgetting to include the address of the church and the hours and poles or meetings. Distribute the tracts to the church members so they can hand them to the blind in the city and share Christ with them.

Record short messages, Christian music, sermons, etc. on tapes, mentioning the address and hours of church meetings and distributing them for free to the blind in our community.

Christian Audio Library: begin to plan for this library in the church by recording books, studies, etc. it should be as a service to the blind community. Carefully choose the voices that will carry out the task. Consult any institute for the blind on how an audio library functions and what is required to make all materials of excellent quality. Inform the blind about this audio library and also offer ourselves to read to them or help them with their studies when they visit the library.

It is very important that the voices that are chosen so to make them understandable. Choose soft Christian music lessons to the blind in the city.

Integrate them immediately with the rest of the congregation. They can immediately become a part of the church’s activities and involved in the same.

Sunday School: the children in Sunday school classes should be prepared to receive other children that are physically challenged. (Perhaps by the Sunday school teachers)

Social Action: the church should be an avenue of help for all those people that have needs. Obtain walking canes, watches, tape players, etc. It is a task that we should keep in mind to help the blind without economic resource.

Details to consider in our relationship with people in wheelchairs.

"YES TO LIFE,
THE PHYSIALLY CHALLENGED
CAN ALSO KNOW JESUS
